SCOTT JAMIESON BEST PLACED SCOT
ON NGA TOUR WINTER TOURNAMENT
Glasgow's Scott Jamieson was lying in joint 16th position in a field of 127 at the end of the first round of the latest NGA Hooters Tour Winter Series event over 54 holes at StoneGate Golf Club at Solivita, Poinciana in Florida.
Jamieson finished on three-under-par 69 after reaching the turn in four-under 32 with birdies at the first, fifth, sixth and seventh. He had his first bogey at the 11th but after cancelling that out with a fifth birdie, at the 16th, he had a second bogey, at the 18th, for one-over-par 37 home.
Gerrard Duncan (Turnberry) was the next best Scot in joint 31st place on 71 (35-36).
Only the leading 40 and ties will qualify after 36 holes to continue the quest for the $12,000 first prize.
Chris McCalman (unattached) and Florida-based David Kirkpatrick from Edinburgh are sharing 42nd place on 72. Both went out in 35 and back in 37.
Paul Cormack (Inchmarlo) is unlikely to recoup his entry fee of $850 after a 75 (38-37) for joint 75th position.
Mark Evans from Ohio leads by two strokes with a nine-under-par 63.
