European Over-50s Tour School

WILLIAMSON AND McCOLL ONLY SCOTS TO
QUALIFY FOR NEXT WEEK'S FINAL TEST

Only two Scots, Duncan Williamson from Cambuslang and Anglo-Scot Billy McColl, survived the European Seniors Tour Qualifying School Stage 1 eliminators at Pinheiros Altos Golf Club and Quinta de Cima on Portugal's Algarve today.
Williamson, who is attached to Kirkhill Golf Club, was the only Scot to get pass marks in a field of 74 at Pinheiros Alto, Quinta do Lago.
The Cambuslang man, 50 in September past, was among 28 players with totals of 154 or better at this venue. They advance to next week's Final Q School at Pestana, Carvoeiro, also on the Algarve.
Williamson had rounds of 75 and 74 for a five-over-par total of 149 - seven behind the leader, Paraguay's Angel Franco.
Scots eliminated at Pinheiros Altos were
*Anglo Stephen Marr, who has a club post in Lancashire, with 79 and 77 for 156.
*Mike Thomson, 53, from the Borders, with 84 and 81 for 165.
*Ronnie McDonald, 54 next month, who gave up the Kemnay club post to concentrate on gaining a European Seniors Tour card. Ronnie, playing out of Inchmarlo Golf Resort, Banchory, scored 86 and 80 for 166.
At Quinta da Cima, Bill McColl, who is based in England, had rounds of 74 and 70 to finish joint third on level par 144 - two shots behind the leader, American Chuck Milne with 69 and 73.
