LEE AND McLEAN JOINT FIFTH AFTER
TWO ROUNDS AT EURO TOUR Q
SCHOOL AT SAN ROQUE
Tartan Tour pro Craig Lee and Clydebank-born Alan McLean made a significant move up the leaderboard on the second day of the six-round European Tour Final Qualifying School at San Roque on the southern tip of Spain's Costa del Sol today.
Lee, who is based at the All Golf Swing Centre in Stirling, shot a four-under-par 68 after matching the par of 72 on the first day. His 36-hole tally of four-under-par 140 has put him in joint fifth place, seven shots behind the leader, Spaniard Pablo Larrazabal who has had scores of 71 and 66 for seven-under 137.
Also on 140 is Alan McLean with rounds of 71 and 69.
Otherwise it was not such a good day for the clutch of Scots trying to finish among the top 25 after 108 holes and thus qualifying to play on the European Tour next year.
Eric Ramsay from Carnoustie slipped from joint 10th to joint 29th place - still the second placed Scot - with a 73 for one-under-par 143.
He is a shot ahead of Euan Little from Portpatrick and Edinburgh's Andrew Oldcorn. Euan slipped back from a 71 to a 73 while Oldcorn had 74 after an opening 70. They are on level par after two rounds but so high is the standard of play that par is good enough only for joint 51st place.
David Drysdale, Andrew McArthur and George Murray are on one-over-par and in joint 66th position. Drysdale sagged from a first-day 70 to a 75, McArthur actually improved from a 73 to a 72 while Murray slashed seven shots off an opening 76 with a three-under 69.
Dean Robertson, a former European Tour campaigner until he fell ill, has had a pair of 73s for 146 and a share of 83rd place.
Graham Fox, Jamie McLeary, Steven O'Hara and Richie Ramsay are in danger of missing the 72-hole cut. They are all on four-over 148 and are sharing 109th place.
Andrew Coltart, a European Tour campaigner for many years and a one-time Ryder Cup player, is sharing 120th position on 149.
