WHITEFORD (69) MAKES GOOD START IN
CHALLENGE TOUR'S AMSTERDAM STOP

From Michael Gibbons
Challenge Tour Press Officer

Fifer Peter Whiteford made a fine start to his bid for a maiden European Challenge Tour victory at the Dutch Futures in Amsterdam, firing a three under par 69 to move into second place after round one.
Currently 60th on the Challenge Tour Rankings, Whiteford needs a big week at the Golfclub Houtrak on the outskirts of Amsterdam to break into the all important top 20 with just five events of the season remaining.
The Kirkcaldy professional got off to a great start in The Netherlands, where only a double bogey 6 on his 11th hole of the first round cost him the lead, held by Spain’s Pablo Larrazabal, who posted an opening score of four under par 68.
George Murray and Eric Ramsay, respectively 34th and 37th on the Rankings and both in contention to win a place on The European Tour via the Challenge Tour’s top 20, posted opening scores of 73 and 75.
