DOAK WINS £1,172 PRIZE AT MACHRIHANISH

Chris Doak won the £1,172 top prize in Saturday's Machrihanish Golf Club pro-am with a two-under-par round of 68. It was the unattached Doak's seventh one-round win of the season on the Tartan Tour circuit, following successes at Portpatrick, Douglas Park, Edzell, Troon Welbeck, Turriff, and Inverness.
Former Northern Open champion Doak had birdies at the fifth, sixth, 10th, 13th and 18th with bogeys at the third, 11th and 16th in halves of 34.
Joint runners-up on 69 were Dean Robertson (Mearns Castle) and Stephen Gray (Hayston).
Mark King led a host club trio of Matt MacAulay (handicap 3), Stuart Buchanan (18) and Robert Wallace (16) to victory with a 13-under-par net score of 57 in the team event.
