US OPEN WINNER CABRERA IS NAMED EURO
TOUR PLAYER OF MONTH

Angel Cabrera has been named as the European Tour Golfer of the month for June following his victory at Oakmont Country Club, where he became the first Argentine winner of the US Open championship.
Cabrera shot a final round of 69, one of only two rounds under par on the final day, for a five over par total of 285, one better than Tiger Woods and another former winner, Jim Furyk.
His victory was only the second Major success for an Argentine golfer, following Roberto de Vicenzo’s Open championship triumph at Royal Liverpool in 1967.
“I am very happy with all this recognition which gives me strength to keep playing at the highest level,” said Cabrera. “This win was very important, especially as it had been 40 years since another Argentine won a Major so hopefully my US Open win will be a big boost for golf in Argentina.
“The Golfer of the Month award is very important to me. The European Tour is my home. I have been here since 1996 and feel very comfortable here.”
