WOLSTENHOLME OUTCLASSES
EUROPEAN MID-AM FIELD TO
RETAIN TITLE BY NINE SHOTS

Walker Cup veteran Gary Wolstenholme (Kilworth Springs), 47 later this summer, retained the European men's mid-amateur golf championship by the runaway margin of nine strokes at the Domaine Imperial Golf Club on the shores of Lake Geneva today (Saturday).
Wolstenholme, pictured right, had to win a play-off last year to take the European over-35s title but 12 months later he outclassed the international field with rounds of u2 69 and 72 for a total of 213.
Runners-up on 222 were Ulrich Schulte (Germany) with 756, 70 and 77 for 222 and Finland's Mika Wikstrom with scores of 75, 76 and 71.
Scotland's Jim Deas finished joint 81st with 86, 76 and 81 for 243.
