JAMIESON AND INGLIS HAVE
CONTRASTING FORTUNES ON
AMERICAN MINI-TOURS

Two former Scottish amateur international golfers in their 20s, Scott Jamieson from Glasgow and Edinburgh’s David Inglis, are campaigning on American mini-tours – with contrasting fortunes.
Jamieson, who turned pro last November after topping the Scottish Golf Union Order of Merit, has missed the cut in only one of his seven outings on the NGA Hooters Tour. He is 43rd in their money table with earnings of $14,516.
Last week 23-year-old Scott, pictured right, who played out of Cathkin Braes during his amateur career and spent four years on the American college circuit as a student at Augusta State University, scored seven-under-par 277 with scores of 74, 67, 68 and 67 in the Loma Linda Classic in the state of Missouri . So high is the standard of play on the Hooters Tour , he finished “only” 21st and earned $2,007 for the week.
This week Jamieson and fellow Scots Joel Hendry from Elgin, Colin Spiers from Dunkeld and David Kirkpatrick from Edinburgh, are competing in the Buffalo Run Casino Classic at Peoria Ridge Golf Club, Miami in Oklahoma.
Meanwhile, based in Florida so that he can play the Gateway Tour, the golf career of David Inglis from the Glencorse club, Penicuik has nosedived since the days when he was a Walker Cup player (Ganton, 2003) and British boys’ champion (Hillside, 2000) and a successful player for the University of Tulsa in the States.
He has missed the cut in 13 of the 17 Gateway Tour events he has entered this year.
David has not earned a cent in eight events in a row since March.
He did start the year well and won $5,297 from his first three events. Then came a slump until March when he boosted his earnings to $7,374 with cheques for $800 and $1,277 for down-the-field placings.
In this week’s Gateway Tour event at West Palm Beach, Inglis started with a five-over-par 77. Out in one-under-par 35, Inglis went down the tubes with 42 for the inward half, including a triple bogey 6 at a short hole. In last week’s tournament, David withdrew after a first-round 82.
