GRAHAM GORDON JOINT SEVENTH DESPITE
BRACE OF DOUBLE BOGEYS AT BOVEY CASTLE

Former Scottish amateur champion Graham Gordon managed to absorb the damage of two double bogeys to be sitting joint seventh at the end of the first day of the latest PGA EuroPro Tour event, the Bovey Castle Championship, at Newton Abbot, Devon.
The Aberdonian shot a one-under-par 69 which could have equalled the 65s by joint leaders Daniel Wardrop and Neil Walker but for 6s at the par-4 10th and 16th.
Gordon, after bogeying the second, did birdie the fourth, sixth, ninth, 12th, 15th and 18th
Paul Doherty, a past Scottish boys’ match-play champion now based in south Wales, started with a triple bogey 7 and did well to salvage a 71, with the help of birdies at the second, foufrht, sixth, 10th, 16th and 18th.
