ENGLISH PAIR SHARE LEAD IN RUSSIAN
INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP


Two young Englishmen, Christopher Wood (Long Ashton) and Dale Whitnell (Forrester Park) are sharing the halfway lead on four-under-par 140 in the Russian open international golf championship at Pestovo Golf Club, north of Moscow.
Wood, quarter-finalist in the recent British amateur championship, has had a pair of 70s, Whitnell and 72 and a 68.
Two other young English players, Matthew Baldwin (Royal Birkdale) and Sam Hutsby (Liphook) are lying fourth and joint seventh respectively on 148 and 152.
The championship is open to professionals and European Senior Tour player Gordon Brand from Yorkshire is in joint ninth place on 154 with 79 and 75.
Germany's Nina Holleder leads the women's championship by eight strokes on level par 144 with a pair of 72s.
Gordon Brand's daughter Lizzie from Ilkley is in joint fourth place on 157.
