First home winner in Irish Open for nearly 30 years

HARRINGTON PLAY-OFF VICTORY PUTS
HIM UP TO 11th IN WORLD RANKINGS

Padraig Harrington ended 29 years without an Irishman winning the Irish Open at Adare Manor today - but he had to beat Welshman Bradley Dredge at the first hole of a play-off before he could claim the title and the 416,660 Euros first prize.
Harrington finished with a 71 for five-under-par 283. Dredge put together a great final round of 68 (after a great third round of 69) to tie on 283.
The Irishman's victory sees him climb one place in the Official World Golf Rankings to 11th.
Marc Warren from East Kilbride was the highest placed Scottish finisher in a share of 12th place. Marc finished off with a 71 for 293 and won 35,611 Euros.
Sandy Lyle and Alastair Forsyth were bracketed together in 21st place on 294.
