LAIRD IN LINE FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE

Former Scottish youths champion Martin Laird contines to prosper on the Nationwide Tour, America's No 2 pro golf circuit. A winner a few weeks ago, Laird was lying joint ninth at the halfway stage of the latest event, the Fort Smith Classic at the quaintly-named Hardscrabble Country Club, Fort Smith in Arkansas.
The Glasgow-born Scot had a bogey-free round of 67 - birdies at the 11th, 12th and 18th - for a 36-hole tally of 11-under-par 133.
On the same mark is Irishman Keith Nolan who had a superb second-round 61 (30-31).
American Craig Lile leads with 65 and 64 for 11-under-par 129.
