FOG DELAYS START OF CRAIGMILLAR PARK OPEN

Fog delayed the start of the Craigmillar Park Open golf tournament in Edinburgh until 9.30 this morning. The field of 78 for the scheduled two-day, 72-hole event should have teed off from 7am.

"At some of the short holes, it was impossible to see the greens from the tees and the danger of players being hit by golf balls from behind was the key factor in delaying the start so long," said one of the organising officials.

A decision on whether the tournament would be cut to three rounds was delayed until the afternoon.
