MEN'S HOME INTERNATIONALS


ENGLAND NAME FOUR NEW CAPS TO
CHALLENGE SCOTS FOR TITLE

Ross McGowan, the new English champion, is one of four new caps in the England squad for the men's home internationals at Pyle & Kenfig GC, South Wales from September 6 to 8.

The other newcomers are Gary Boyd (19) and Ben Parker (18) and 23 year old Stephen Lewton, who is a golf scholarship student at North Carolina State University.

McGowan’s capture of the English title, when he beat Oliver Fisher 5 and 4 in the final at Burnham and Berrow, capped a highly successful season for the Surrey 24 year old. He has finished runner-up in five events including the Brabazon Trophy and South of England Stroke Play Championship.
The full England team to challenge for the title currently held by Scotland is:
Gary Boyd (Cherwell Edge), Robert Dinwiddie (Barnard Castle), Oliver Fisher (West Essex), Adam Gee (Leatherhead), Stephen Lewton (Woburn), Ross McGowan (Banstead Downs), Jamie Moul (Stoke-by-Nayland), Ben Parker (Royal Birkdale), Edward Richardson (Southern Valley), Paul Waring (Bromborough) and Gary Wolstenholme (Kilworth Springs).
Reserves: Matthew Cryer (Coventry) and David Horsey (Styal).
