TEENAGER FISHER LEADS BY THREE

Teenage Walker Cup player Oliver Fisher from West Essex had his second-round lead cut from six to three strokes before the end of play on the second day of the St Andrews Links Trophy.

Fisher had surged well clear of the field with rounds of 66 and 70 for 136.

Then Keir McNicoll of Carnoustie Golf Club and Lynn University, Baton Rouge in Florida narrowed the gap at the top of the leaderboard with scores of 68 and 71 for 139.

Robert Dinwiddie (Barnard Castle), a Walker Cup team-mate of Fisher at Chicago Golf Club last summer and last year’s winner of the Scottish men’s amateur stroke-play championship at Balgownie, moved into third place with two rounds go. He shot 71 and 69 for 140.
