11,000 VISIT INAUGURAL EVENT

TGI SCOTTISH GOLF SHOW A BIG SUCCESS
Pro-Sports Promotions Ltd, organisers of the inaugural TGI Scottish Golf Show in association with Visit Scotland, have declared the three-day event, held at the Royal Highland Centre in Ingliston at the weekend, a resounding success.
Just under 11,000 Scottish golfers made their way in glorious sunshine to the Edinburgh venue to be part of what truly was a fantastic festival of golf.
The warm summer weather brought visitors onto the outdoor driving range where they were able to try out the latest clubs from leading equipment companies including TaylorMade and Nike – both of whom brought their famous Tour trucks to the show – as well as Ping, MacGregor, Yonex, Benross, Cobra and Ben Sayers among others.
TGI Golf pros were also on hand to help custom-fit Nemesis RSd drivers and RSq utilities whilst US Kids ran a special range for juniors. Trick-shot expert David Edwards entertained the crowds who, between enjoying the garden party atmosphere, could also test out their putting skills on both the outdoor and indoor putting greens
Other indoor highlights included a 20min fashion show, which took place four times per day, a bunker instruction area, plus long-drive, nearest-the-pin and putting competitions. But, undoubtedly, one of the main attractions was the 500sq/m TGI Golf Shop which was a hub of activity over all three days.

Event organiser Tom Lovering was overwhelmed not only by the success of the show but also by the positive feedback he received from the exhibitors, many of whom reported record sales over the three days.

Lovering commented: “Many of the exhibitors I spoke to told me that, compared with other similar events, the TGI Scottish Golf Show is, by far, one of the best around and many of them have already signed-up for larger stands at next year’s show.”

Ian Johnston, the managing director of TGI Golf, the show’s principal retailer and title-sponsor, added: “From both the consumer and exhibitor perspectives, the show was a huge success. There was a distinct family atmosphere, which is unique for a show like this and added to the festival feel. It was also a very knowledgeable audience, which pleased the exhibitors, as it generated genuine interest in the products and brands on show.”
The organisers have confirmed that the show will become a permanent fixture in the golfing calendar and they plan to announce details shortly of an even bigger event for 2007.
