Sean Lawrie Joins the Pro Ranks

NEWS RELEASE
Sean Lawrie,  22-year-old nephew of Paul, has taken the decision to join the paid ranks, following in the footsteps of his famous uncle and (more recently) his cousin Craig Lawrie.
Sean, a plus-one handicap amateur who has grown up as a member at Portlethen Golf Club, spent two years at Midland College, Texas, on a golf scholarship programme before returning to his native Aberdeen to work for a couple of years, earning some cash to support his ambitions.
His first event as a professional golfer was in yesterday's opening North-east Alliance event at Craibstone, where he was a top-ten finisher, behind his new stablemates, Philip McLean and Greig McBain.
In addition to financial backing, to assist with the costs of competing, Foundation-supported players have personal access to Paul and can rely on his advice and vast experience to assist them as they make their way in the paid ranks.
Sean will represent the Foundation, attaching to the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre, where he will be able to work on his game over the winter months before he sets his sights on the EuroPro Tour in 2016.

He intends to compete in the Alliance events between now and April of next year before heading to the EuroPro Tour School.
"I'm excited about my new career choice and grateful for the backing of both the Paul Lawrie Foundation and Rainbow City Taxis, who have also agreed to support me financially for the next two years.

"I've not rushed in to this decision and feel that I am now ready to have a crack at as a pro.  I certainly feel I have the potential to succeed."
