NEIL AND FORREST BADLY MISSED AT SOUTHERNDOWN

SLOW START BY SCOTS - BEATEN 10-5
BY IRELAND IN OPENING MATCH

Scotland badly missed Bradley Neil and Grant Forrest - who failed to make the match-play stages of the US amateur championships - on the first day of the men's home internationals at Southerndown Golf Club in South Wales.
The Scots lost 10-5 to Ireland and with England and Wales drawing 7 1/2-7 1/2, that means the men in blue are bottom of the table.
Ireland shaded the foursomes 3-2 against the Scots but ran way with the singles 7-3.
Only Daniel Young and Matthew Clark won in the afternoon for Scotland. Craig Ross and Graeme Robertson secured halved matches.
