Hopeman's Kyle Godsman, a member of Moray Golf Club, Lossiemouth, leads the field by two shots at the halfway stage of the North of Scotland Open amateur stroke-play championship for the David Blair Trophy at Elgin Golf Club.
Godsman, pictured, third in last weekend's North-east District Open at Peterhead, has had rounds of 65 and 68 for a five-under-par two-round total of 133 over the par-69 Hardhillock course.
His closest challengers as they go into Sunday's final two rounds of this SGU Order of Merit 72-hole tournament are Jeff Wright (Forres) and Kilmacolm's experiened international Matthew Clark, both on 135.
Wright has had scores of  67-68 - his best-ever performance at this elevated level of competition, while Clark shot 66-69 over the first two rounds.
Glenbervie's Fraser Moore is lying fourth on 137 (68-69). He was similarly placed at halfway in the North-east District Open but two mediocre Sunday rounds dragged him down to a share of 13th place.
Connor Syme (Drumoig), winner by four shots of the North-east District Open, is lying joint fifth on 138 after rounds of 66 and 72.
Young Sandy Scott had the day's best score - a five-under-par 64 in the second round, 11 shots of an improvement from morning to afternoon.
Bryan Fotheringham came into the picture with a second-round 66 for 138, alongside Syme, Chris MacLean, the Balmore man who led for a long way at Peterhead last Sunday, and up and coming younsters Ben Kinsley (St Andrews) and Jack Harling (Banchory).
Players with tallies of 149 and better qualified for
the Sunday action.
