A CASH COW MILKED BY TOURS THE WORLD OVER

 EUROPEAN  TOUR PUTS Q SCHOOL

ENTRY FEE UP TO £1,400

FROM A SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT
The European Tour Qualifying School process is fast aproaching, beginning in September.
There are eight Stage 1 venues, five of them in Europe, three in the UK.
If I remember correctly, the last entry fee was 1,500 euros or £1,350 pounds.  It is now 1,725 euros or £1,400.
This is a substantial increase for the Europeans, and as usual, these aspiring golfers in my view are being exploited.
It's an easy way for the European Tour to boost its coffers at this time every year. But, I have to say, they are not alone.
Every tour, male or female, the world over uses Qualifying Schools as an excuse to take a lot of money off those who want to get a foot on the ladder to "fame and fortune."
The entries close in about a week's time, but the current entry is interesting.

The Roxburghe, Kelso venue has the fewest entries (40) so far.  If it stays like that, the number of qualifiers from there to Stage 2 will be about half the bigger ones ( 25% go forward to Stage 2).
The North-east is well represented among the 16 Scots so far.
Interestingly, Scottish amateur champion Chris Robb and Wallace Booth are trying to qualify from Frilford Heath.
Total entry is 529 so far. It will be interesting to see if they  get anywhere near the thousand or so that they got a few years back.
