THIRD VICTORY IN PAST FOUR YEARS
LANARKSHIRE ORDER OF MERIT AGAIN
Stewart Henderson (Hamilton), pictured above with the Cadzow Cup, won the Lanarkshire Golf Association's Order of Merit for
the third time in four years, proving that if you are good enough age does not
matter.
Stewart, 48,
played in six of the seven counting events and finished no worse than sixth,
including third in the Lanark county championship at Strathaven, second in the Newlands Trophy at Lanark and first
in the Cadzow Cup at Hamilton for the third time in four years.
Stewart has had a life-long affiliation with Douglas Water
Golf Club and he became club champion this year for the 16th year in
a row and 21st time in total.
Henderson took great pride this year in representing
Lanarkshire in the SGU six-man area team championship at Ranfurly Castle and Old
Ranfurly Golf Club and helped the team to a silver medal by winning three out of four of his match-play ties.
Next month Stewart will represent Hamilton Golf Club in the
Scottish club championship at Lundin Golf Club. Fife on Sunday, September 14.
Henderson hopes to keep playing top level golf for a few more
years yet but he has one eye on the European Seniors Tour Qualifying School in
January 2016 - if he can find a sponsor!
