ALLAN McKIE WINS ARGYLL AND BUTE AREA STROKE-PLAY
Allan McKie’s birdie-birdie finish in his second round was enough to give the Glencruitten member his first Argyll and Bute area stroke-play title over Machrihanish.
Leader in the morning after a one under par 69, his level par afternoon round consolidated his position at the top of the leaderboard.
In second place was Gordon Tyre three shots back after scoring a 142 total. In third place were defending champion Graham Bolton alongside home club member Oliver Armour.
In the team trophy held in conjunction with the area championship, host club Machrihanish represented by Ross Currie, David Graham and Ian McGougan emerged victorious and will represent the area in the Scottish Club Championship at Falkirk Tryst in three weeks.
David Graham capped off a fine day for the host club by winning the youths' title from Glencruitten’s Robert MacIntyre by one shot.
