Inverness break Nairn's hold
on Northern Counties Cup

After thrashing their second team in the third round by 14 holes The Nairn first team, who started out as favourites, lost their hold on the Northern Counties Cup, being beaten by Inverness in the quarter finals at Tain today.
The Inverness first team of John Forbes & David Sanderson, and Alan Cameron and Ewan Forbes will, on Saturday morning, line up against Royal Aberdeen in the first semi final after Royal Aberdeen beat a plucky Brora side by two holes.
Mark Halliday and Bill Barclay finished one up on Ronald Sutherland and Under-16 Scottish cap, Calum Stewart and by the same margin Allan Reith and Steven Buchan beat Brora's James MacBeath and Roddie Cameron whose's rally of winning two of the last three holes came too late.
Forres and Cruden Bay will meet in the other semi final. A six hole win from Forres's first string of Ali Robertson and Robert Mckerron ofset the three hole loss by second couple Bryan Fotheringham and Stuart Maclennan against Muir of Ord's second string of Scott Dingwall and Ali Begg.
Cruden Bay's first string of Michael Buchan and Jim Smith saw second pair Ross Cooper and Keith Martin doing the business for them in the morning against Moray with a two hole win and then a three hole result against against Nigg Bay's Gordon Grimmer and Richard Neilson.
The Saturday semi-finals tee off at 9.00am and 9.15am and the final at 2.00pm
