SCOTS DOWN UNDER NEXT WEEK

There are only two Scottish entrants - John Hempstock and Steven Speirs - for next week's Australian men's open amateur championship at Royal Adelaide Golf Club and Grange Golf Club.

Dumfries & Galloway GC member Hempstock was Scottish boys' match-play champion in 2002.

Eric Ramsay (Carnoustie) and South Wales-based Scot Jack Doherty , both now professionals, won the prestigious Aussie title in 2005 and 2003 respectively.
