Six England boys selected for U16 match v

British boys’ champion Conor Gough, pictured above, is one of six players selected for the England team for the U16 international against Ireland at Limerick on October 13 and 14.
The other team members are Dubai-based Josh Hill, Max Hopkins of Hertfordshire, George Leigh of Cornwall, Ben Pierleoni of Hertfordshire and Ben Schmidt of Yorkshire.
Gough, Hill and Hopkins were all in England’s winning team at the Boys’ Home Internationals.
The players:
Conor Gough, 16, (Stoke Park, BB&O), has also won the English U16 McGregor Trophy and the boys’ title at the Fairhaven Trophies this season.
Josh Hill, 14, (Jumeirah), was 10th in the McGregor Trophy and a strong challenger in the U18 Carris Trophy, eventually finishing 11th. He reached the last 32 in the British boys’ championship.
Max Hopkins, 15, (Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire) reached the last eight in the British boys’ and was placed fourth in the Italian U16s, where he also helped England win the Nations Cup.
George Leigh, 16, (Trevose) helped England win the recent U16 international against Wales and was sixth in the McGregor Trophy.
Ben Pierleoni, 16, (Berkhamsted) was also in England’s winning team against Wales and was fourth in the North of England boys’ championship.
Ben Schmidt, 16, (Rotherham) has won the English Boys’ County Champion of Champions and was runner-up in the Italian U16 boys’ amateur and the McGregor Trophy. He too, contributed to England’s win over Wales U16s.
