Ferguson and Kinloch set pace with par 71s

 at Glenbervie


Alister Ferguson (Dunfermline) and James Kinloch (Cardross) are the pacemakers on the par 71 mark at the halfway stage of the Central Scotland Seniors Open competition at Glenbervie Golf Club.
Ferguson highlighted his halves of 36 and 35 with an eagle 3 at the long 15th. He did well at the par-5s, apart from his eagle, as he birdied the long second and 27th. He did drop strokes to par at the first, ninth, 11th and 14th.
Kinloch made a superb start and was three under par on the sixth tee, having birdied the first, second and fifth, but he bogeyed the sixth, ninth and 12th in halves of 34 and 37.
Stuart McKendrick (Dunkeld and Birnam), one of three players on the 72 mark, also had three early birdies: at the first, fifth and seventh in halves of 34 and 38, He bogeyed the second, third, 10th and 11th.
Richard Johnston's 72 included birdies at the second, fourth, fifth and 15th but five bogeys in halves of 35 and 37 dragged him down.
Phil Hendry (Stirling), having bogeyed the first and second, did not get his first birdie until the eighth but after bogeys at the 12th and 15th, he boosted his hopes with birdies at the 16th and 17th in halves of 36.
There is a field of well over 100.
