Carpenter wins North District boys' title

Jake Carpenter (Forres) won the North District boys' championship for the R P B Bain Trophy by two strokes at Garmouth and Kingston Golf Club  today.

Jake (pictured right), who has a handicap of four, had scratch rounds of 68 and 66 for a total of 134.
Matty Wilson (Forres) was runner-up with scores of 69 and 67 for 136.
First-round leader Jamie MacKintosh (Nairn) finished third with 66 and 72 for 138.
One-handicapper Calum Scott (Nairn) won the Under-16 scratch section with a pair of 71s for 142. Clubmate Logan Gillies also finished on 142 (70-72) but Scott won with the better second round.
Nathan MacKenzie (Muir of Ord), playing off 15, won the Handicap Trophy with a net total of 131 (65-66).
Nairn, represented by L Gillies, C Scott, J MacKintosh and R Cromarty, won the Emslie Shield team trophy with a gross total of 599. Nairn Dunbar were runners-up with 618 and Inverness third with 625.
There was a 20min suspension of play at one stage when a sudden downpour flooded the greens.
