ROBSON WINS SENIOR SOUTH OF
SCOTLAND OPEN BY ONE SHOT

Nick Robson (Meldrum House) won the Scottish Seniors Golfing Society's South of Scotland Open at Powfoot by one shot from Stewart Henderson (Hamilton). 

Overnight leader Robson added a level par round of 71 to his opening 74 for a total of 145.  Henderson shot a best of the day 70 to add to his first round of 76, for a total of 146.  Third place went to Jim Graham (Lochmaben) on 151 (76, 75).

The players had to contend with heavy rain and high winds on day one, and although there was very little rain today, a strong wind made scoring very difficult. 

Robson bogeyed the third, fifth and seventh but picked up birdies at the fourth, fifth  and 14th for his round of 71.  Henderson bogeyed the 6th and 12th, but birdies at the second, third and 14th gave him a round of 70.

Nick Robson won the Scottish Seniors Match-play Championship at Alyth two weeks ago, and today's win takes him to the top of the SSGS Order of Merit table with a 60 point lead over Graham Bell (Downfield), who was unable to play at Powfoot.  Stewart Henderson moves up to third place in the table.

There was a three way tie on 147 for the bronze medal, awarded to the player with the best net total, between Jim Emslie (Royal Aberdeen) (4) (75-72), David Taylor (St Andrews New) (3)  and Jim Graham (Lochmaben) (2)
