BUCKPOOL GOLF CLUB'S NEW
INDOOR COACHING
AREA
Official Opening Saturday, July
15 at 12 noon
A new indoor golf coaching area opens at Buckpool Golf Club on July 15. The room, formerly the snooker room at the clubhouse has been re-designed to include an indoor practice putting area, and indoor net.
Funding for part of the project is the successful result of a grant of over £5,000 from the Awards for All scheme, funded through The Big Lottery and sportscotland.
With the appointment of Robbie Stewart as the attached PGA Golf Professional, operating as The Moray Golf Academy, Buckpool Golf Club is now able to offer within Moray a unique service to golf members where they can receive coaching and make use of practice facilities independent of weather or light conditions outside at the time. Included in the facilities is a Skytrak Launch Monitor, a TOMI putting analysis monitor and a Cleveland wedge analyser.
Originating from Lossiemouth, Robbie is
very much going back to his roots as a teaching Pro by joining Buckpool a role which
Robbie particularly enjoys. He brings over 35 years of experience as a PGA Golf
Pro, which will allow him to offer a wide range of services to Buckpool members
and other golfers in the area. This will cover all aspects from basic
introduction to golf through to advanced coaching sessions to bring out the
best in all players.
From an extensive shop facility at the clubhouse, Robbie
will provide a specific individually tailored PING club fitting service, plus other services that include re-gripping
clubs, and supply of golf items, such as balls, tees, gloves and clothing.
“We are particularly pleased that Buckpool
was successful with their Awards for All grant,” stated John Adam, Club
Secretary. “And now with the appointment
of Robbie Stewart and the completion of our Golf Studio we now offer a unique
environment at Buckpool for golfers in the area to improve their game, as well
as to inspire our juniors in a positive fun environment to take their game to
the highest level through the most professionally run competition and award
winning instruction.
We have a very successful junior section at Buckpool,
where, with the assistance of our own Clubgolf Coaches, we introduce youngsters
to golf, and try to encourage them to play out on the course on a regular basis.
Just recently, one of our junior members Ruari Mair won the Paul Lawrie Junior
Jug Tournament over 3 rounds at Fairmount St Andrews.
The installation of our
golf studio through the success of the Awards For All funding is a big step
along the way to prepare and encourage our juniors, and all members to improve
their golf, and importantly their enjoyment of the game of golf.”
Buckpool Golf Club provides a links style
course with fast rolling fairways. Originally designed and set out by J H
Taylor, one of the Great Triumvirate from the early part of the 20th
Century, the lay out of the course has
changed little. The swailes and hollows protect the approaches to the fast
undulating greens, some further protected by cavernous bunkers.
