Amateur Syme claims spot in Open with 138


total at Glasgow Gailes

Drumoig amateur Connor Syme, American Julian Suri and Australian Ryan McCarthy from Tasmania claimed the three qualifying spots for the Open championship in today's Final Qualifier at Glasgow Gailes.

Syme and Suri tied for the No 1 position with matching aggregates of four-under-par 138. Syme (pictured)  had rounds of 71 and 67, Suri a pair of 69s.
Four players tied for third place on 140. All four shot 72-68.
McCarthy prevailed with an 8ft birdie putt to break the deadlock at the first hole of a sudden-death play-off.
