Langer wins US Senior PGA Championship

STERLING, Virginia (AP) -- Bernhard Langer played near-flawless golf and took advantage of Vijay Singh's late mistakes to win the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship at Trump National, Washington DS on Sunday for his record ninth senior major.
The US Senior PGA Championship was the only major that had eluded the 59-year-old Florida-based German star during his dominant decade-long run on the US Senior Pro Tour.
Langer was coming off a victory last week at the Regions Tradition, the first US Senior Tour major of the season.
Langer, one behind Fijian Singh, at the start of the fourth round, birdied the third and fifth while Vijay bogeyed the fourth.
Singh was still in with a winning chance until Langer holed at 12ft birdie putt at the 16th while Singh three-putted to bogey the 17th ad give his opponent a two-shot lead..
After Singh birdied 18, Langer calmly tapped in for par and a one-shot victory. He shot a 4-under 68 to finish at 18-under 270. Singh closed with a 70 for 281.
Langer also won the season-opening Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai and has 32 career US Senior Tour
victories to his credit, second only to Hale Irwin's 45.
