Tennessee wigwalk  for Euan Walker

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
It was the proverbial game of two halves for Troon's Euan Walker, now in his last couple of months after four years as a student at Missouri University,  in Friday's first round of the Mason Rudolph Collegiate Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club's South Course at Franklin, Tennessee.

Euan, pictured right, covered the first nine holes in three over par with bogeys at the second, seventh and ninth. But it was a different story for holes 10 to 18 which he covered in three-under-par with birdies at the short 11th and two par-5 holes, the 14th and 18th.
All of that added up to a par-71 for a longish course of 7,100yd. That placed him in a T23 position going into Round 2, five shots behind the leader, playing over his home course, Vanderbilt's Theo Humphrey who had halves of 34-32 for a five-under 66. Theo birdied five of the last eight holes.
Rory Franssen, pictured left, from Inverness, a freshman at Missouri University, had to settle for an opening 74 and a T47 position with a couple of bad holes ruining what might otherwise have been a very good score.
Rory ran up a triple bogey 7 at the par-4 10th and a double bogey 5 at the par-3 11th in halves of 34-40. He birdies the eighth, 14th and 18th with a bogey at the 10th in there as well.
A field of 78 players with Flordia (276) leading the team event from the home-course favourites Vanderbilt (277) with Alabama (278) a close-up third. Missouri (283) are seventh in a field of 14 teams.
