Alan Murdoch reports that Merchistonian Calum Hill, from North Berwick and in his final year as a student at Oregon State University, helped his college finish third in the Bandon Dunes Collegiate Championship at Bandon Dunes Golf Club, Oregon (March 12-14) by finishing 16th in a field of 90 players.

Hill, pictured, had three steady rounds of 72, 71 and 73 for a level par aggregate of 216 over a par-72 course of 6,893yd.
Another Scot, Sandy Scott from Nairn, a freshman at Texas Tech, had an up-and-down three days with rounds of 77, 73 and 75 for 225 and a T51 final placing.
Texas Tech provided the individual winner by two strokes, Hannes Ronneblad (65-71-70 for 10-under 206), and finished second (857)  in the team event, sandwiched between winners Oregon (836), whose Edwin Yi (69-71-68) and Wyndham Clark (66-74-68) finished joint second on 208, and third-placed Oregon State (858) in a field of 16 teams.
A third Brit in the field, Angus Montgomery from Middlesborough, a student at Gonzaga University, did not do so well. He shot 77, 85 and 78 for a total of 240 and 88th place. Gonzaga (907) finished 15th of 16 in the team event.
