Byrne playing for second place in Malaysia
By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Banchory-born James Byrne, now based at Singapore, is on 10 under par 134 after rounds of 65 and 69 in the Asian Development Tour's PGM Northport Championship at Glenmarie Golf and Country Club, Shah Alam, Malaysia.
But the Scot, joint second with Englishman Steve Lewton (66-68), is still eight shots behind leader Ben Leong (Malaysia) (64-62 for 18-under 126) and with the tournament reduced to 54 holes due to several lengthy bad weather delays it looks as if Byrne and Lewton are playing for outright second place.
Byrne, twice a winner on the Asian Development Tour, has had 12 birdies so far - eight in Round 1 and four (sixth, ninth, 12th and 17th) - in Round 2
