Robbie Van West wins four-man Tony Jacklin Open play-off

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
A four-way play-off climax to the Tony Jacklin Open ended with Dutchman Robbie Van West the winner and Marco Iten (Switzerland), Moritz Lampert (Germany) and Nicolai Van Dellingshausen officially placed joint second at the 54-hole Tony Jacklin Casablanca Golf Club, Morocco today.
Van West had rounds of 71, 67 and 66 for 12-under 204.
Kevin Duncan (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) was the highest placed Scot in the final totals. He scored 72, 66 and 69 for a T13 finish on 207 - only three shots behind the play-off participants.
Duncan would have been even closer but for a triple bogey during his first round.
Chris Robb (Meldrum House) just made the top 20 at this Pro Golf Tour event with rounds of 65, 73 and 71 for 209 and joint 19th place.
Peterhead's Ross Cameron (Saltire Energy) finished joint 31st on 212 with scores of 68, 73 and 71 for four-under-par 212.
Philip McLean's scoring continues to puzzle this writer. The Peterhead-based Paul Lawrie Golf Centre man shot a five-under 67 in the second round but took 11 shots more on the final day - a 78 for a total of 218 and 44th place.
McLean had a double bogey 6 at the first and a bogey at the third before claiming his only birdie of the final round at the fifth. Out in 39, he repeated that score on the inward half with bogeys at the 10th, 11th, 14th and 18th.
