Scots lead Wales, England ahead of European champions Ireland at wet, then windy Alyth

Scotland gained a 2-1 lunchtime lead over Wales after the morning foursomes on the first day of the Senior Women's Home Internationals at Alyth Golf Club, Perthshire.

Title-holders lead European champions Ireland 2.5-0.5 after a morning which started wet and miserable but brightened nearer lunchtime although a half-gale replaced the wind.

SCOTLAND lead WALES 2-1
Sheena Wood and Gillian Kyle bt Ann Lewis and Sharon Roberts 1 hole.
Fiona De Vries and Lesley Lloyd bt Chris Harries and Patricia Fernon 4 and 2.
Alex Glennie and Mary Smith lost to Denise Richards and Jane Rees 7 and 6.

ENGLAND lead IRELAND 2.5-0.5
Jackie Foster and Catherine Rawthore bt Gertie McMullen and Maria O'Reilly 2 holes.
Julie Brown and Aileen Greenfield bt Carol Wickham and Sheena McElroy 1 hole.
Helen Lowe and Karen Jobling halved with Laura Webb and Suzanne Corcoran.
