Cameron leads Scots in Germany with a par 72

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Ellon's Ross Cameron, sponsored by Saltire Energy, made a solid start with a par 72 to be lying joint 14th at the end of the first round of the German PGA Development Tour's Preis des Hardenberg at Hardenberg Golf Club, Northeim in Germany.
Cameron was not fazed by a double bogey 7 at the par-5 11th. He also had two bogeys but birdies at the second, fifth, ninth and 15th cancelled out the mistakes to leave him four shots off the pace being set by two Germans and a Frenchman.
Daniel Kay (Dunbar) is tied 20th with a 73, one shot ahead of Portlethen's Sam Kiloh (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) who is joint 29th.
Kevin Duncan had a 75 to be T41 and former Scottish amateur champion Alexander Culverwell (Dunbar) is joint 62nd after a 77.
Peterhead's Philip McLean (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) struggled round in 80 to be joint 92nd.
