French dominate Global Golf Post Scottish U16 boys' open championship

Good effort by Kirkhill's Irvine to finish 7th in

strong international field at West Lothian

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
French domination of the Global Golf Post Scottish U16 boys' open championship at West Lothian Golf Club amounted to five of their big entry in the final top 10 and nine in the top 20.
The winner as Ayrmeric Laussot from Paris with a seven-under-par total of 277 - an astonishing aggregate, considering he bogeyed five of his first eight holes in the first round.
Laussot went on to shoot 15 birdies in all in compiling rounds of 74, 68, 65 and 70, finishing two clear of the joint runners-up Markopolo Fullepp (New Zealand) and Barclay Brown (Hallamshire).
Only four Scots survived the halfway cut but Lewis Irvine (Kirkhill) deserves credit for finishing seventh in such an international field. He shot 72, 70, 70 and 72 for level par 284 - seven ahead of Jake Edgecombe (Baberton) and Alex Simpson (Strathmore) who were joint 26th on 291.
Cameron Gallagher tied for 32nd place on 294.
