RENFREWSHIRE GOLF UNION PRESS RELEASE

The County Handicap Championship of the Renfrewshire Golf Union was held at a beautifully presented Erskine Golf Club on Sunday

After two weeks of glorious weather the RGU event saw heavy rain during the previous day and again overnight, now something of a regular occurrence at RGU events.

However the weather relented and the event went ahead as scheduled.

The winner of the 6-12 handicap event was Gary Cullen (Earl of Mar GC) with a net 67 which included three birdies in the first nine holes.

The next three places were all filled by players who scored net 69, all separated by their last 9 holes.

In second place was Erskine GC member Owen Archdeacon jnr who had birdie 2ss at the only two par three holes on the course.

Third place went to Neil Delussy (Greenock GC).

Fourth place went to Erskine Golf Club member Christopher Gray.

In the 13 - 28 event the winner was Liam Hamilton (Erskine GC) whose net 67 (b.i.h.) included a birdie at the long par 4 16^th, and also  bogeys at thhe 17 and 18t.

Second place went to Jim Burns (Old Ranfurly) also with a net 67. He took a 7 at the last hole

Third place went to Mark McKorkindale (Greenock Whinhill) with a net 70 (b.i.h.)

Fourth place went to Stuart Brown (Lochwinnoch) with a net 70.
