Kellett tied for sixth place in Italy after a 65

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Motherwell's Ross Kellett (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) crammed seven birdies into his last 16 holes after bogeying the second to chalk up a six-under-par 65 in the first round of the Challenge Tour event, the Montecchia Open, at Padova, Italy.

Kellett, pictured, is tied sixth behind Swedish leader Alexander Bjork who birdied the last four holes for a 62 in what has been reduced to a 54-hole tournament following the lost of Thursday's play when the course was flooded.
The Scot birdied the third, fourth, eighth, ninth, 13th, 14th and 17th in halves of 32 and 33.
Duncan Stewart from Grantown on Spey is tied 14th on 66 with a bag of seven birdies and two bogeys in halves of 33.
Walker Cup Scot Ewen Ferguson, still an amateur, is sharing 53rd place on 69 with Paul Shields, Jack Doherty and Bradley Neil.
Another Walker Cup player, Grant Forrest, is tied 79th on 70 with Peter Whiteford and Scott Henry.
David Law, for once, missed out on the birdie fest on soft, holding greens. He will be pushed to survive the second round cut from a tied 120th position with a one-over 72. The Aberdonian had four of his five bogeys after the turn.
Also on 72 is Chris Doak.
