Deer Park Golf, Howth Castle is positioned close to the picturesque village of Howth, North County Dublin and is situated a mere 20 minutes from Dublin Airport. 
Howth Castle is the ancestral home of the St Lawrence family who have resided on this property for over 800 years. 
The principal activities on the Estate are:
Deer Park Golf which includes two traditional golf courses, one 18 holes, the other nine;  an 18 hole pitch-and-putt course, an 18 hole FootGolf course as well as the first Poc Fada Golf course, combining the ancient Irish game of hurling with golf.
The Golf Clubhouse provides drinks, refreshments, and light lunches. It also houses a golf shop and essential facilities for golfers and visitors to the estate. -
Howth Castle Cookery School is a well-established cookery school in the restored Georgian kitchen of the castle. This offers unique culinary class experiences. 
Howth Castle hosts a variety of local, national and international tour groups, the Howth Literary Festival and bespoke corporate events within the grounds. 
The Role 
Reporting to the Owners, the General Manager will: 
Gain insight into relevant market trends and formulate business plans and budgets for each separate area of the business. 
Use competitor and consumer insights to provide understanding, direction and guidance to the Owners around planned new initiatives. 
Execute successful sales and marketing campaigns for each separate area of the business in line with the strategic objectives of the business. 
Manage all day-to-day food and beverage operations (Golf Clubhouse and Cookery School) as well as day-to-day course and golf shop operations. 
Build, manage and maintain motivated customer-focused teams across every separate area of the business
Maintain and manage quality customer relationship management practices across all areas of the business. 
Establish and maintain robust management tools, metrics and reporting structures to facilitate the effective running of all areas of the business. 
Build personal relationships with golf societies, the local business community and the general public so that the General Manager is clearly identified as the figurehead of the business. 
Develop strategic partnerships and business relationships with tour operators, golf societies, event organisers and other relevant bodies and agencies. 
Organise and host special promotions and events as agreed with the Owners. 
Ensure premises, facilities and courses are updated and maintained to an excellent standard. 
Oversee the implementation of various Course, Clubhouse and Cookery School projects as they arise. 
Person specification
5 – 10 years’ experience in a hospitality management or golf management role in a similar environment.
Sound commercial and financial acumen. 
A keen interest in and passion for golf and food.
A third level qualification in business, leisure, tourism or another relevant qualification.
 A proven track record of improving the profitability and value of a similar business or business unit in a senior leadership position. 
A visible, proactive and personally involved management style with a ‘hands-on’ and ‘can do’ approach to the role.
An entrepreneurial spirit with an ability to work on own initiative. An excellent communicator with the ability to clearly articulate strategy and report on progress.
