Hutcheon's five birdies in 10 holes make up

for slow start on Algarve Pro Tour

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Greig Hutcheon rallied from a poor start to finish the day in joint third place with a two-under-par 70 on the Algarve Pro Tour 36-hole competition at Castro Marim Golf Club, near the Spanish
border with Portugal.
The Tartan Tour No 1 bogeyed the first, short second and long fourth before settling to birdie the long fifth, the ninth, short 11th, long 13th and 14th - five birdies in a 10-hole span.
Hutch is one of eight players on the 70 mark, five behind the English leader, Jordan Smith, and three behind the second-placed Greg O'Neill, also from England.
Scottish amateur Lewis Reid, 18, a Tantallon Golf Club member,  played very well to post a 71 for a share of 11th place.
Other Scots in the field of 62, James Steven (T22), Paul Shields (T39), Jordan McColl (T49)  and Deeside amateur Benjamin Henderson (T49) had scores of 73, 77, 78 and 79 respectively.
