Craig Lawrie tied fifth at halfway in Penina

Craig Lawrie is tied for fifth place with a three-under-par 70  in after the first round of a 36-hole pro-am event on the Algarve Pro Tour at Penina, the course constructed originally by Sir Henry Cotton.
Lawrie is three shots behind the leader, Sweden's Jarmo Sandelin, who was a team-mate of Craig's father Paul in the 1999 Ryder Cup match at Brookline, USA where the Americans won by a single point.
Jay Taylor (Drumpellier), another of the s seven Scots in the field of 66 oplayters, is in joint seventh place on two-under 7
Craig Lawrie's cousin Sean Lawrie, also playing out of the Paul Lawrite Golf Centre, had a 78.
Deeside amateur Benjamin Henderson returned an 83
