Paul McKechnie (Braid Hills) and Dunbar's Neil Fenwick lead the chase for the £5,200 first pro prize as the Tomatin 54-hole pro-am tournament moves into its third and final round over Castle Stuart, Nairn and Royal Dornoch.
Both are on the 136 mark but for Fenwick that represents a seven-under-par total, he having played Nairn (par 71) and Castle Stuart (par 72), while McKechnie is six Castle Stuart and Royal Dornoch (par 70).
On paper, two strokes span the leading eight players but the courses over which they have to play their final rounds could play a big part in the final outcome.
Fenwick's final 18 holes on Wednesday are over Royal Dornoch while McKechnie plays Nairn.
One shot behind them are Paul O'Hara (Clydeway Golf), Christopher Currie (Caldwell), Greg McBain (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) and Ross Kellett (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre).
O'Hara signs off at Royal Dornoch, Currie at Castle Stuart, McBain at Castle Stuart and Kellett at Nairn.
The top 10 finishers will all receive four-figure cheques.

McKechnie's three-under-par 67 at Royal Dornoch was the lowest score at any of three courses in the second round, which suggests the Glasgow 38-year-old has quickly recaptured the form that saw him win a string of events, capped by the Paul Lawrie Invitational at Deeside. .
