Wilson, Watt and Robinson win trips to USA

for Faldo Series Grand European Final

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
James Wilson (Balmore) and Marc Watt (Inverallochy) won the Under-21 and Under-16 age categories respectively at The Duke's Course, St Andrews today - and are bound for the United States and the Nick Faldo Junior Series' Grand Final in the autumn.
The third qualifer, Brad Robinson from the Westerhope club near Newcastle, won the Under-18s group and he will join Wilson, Watt and the two girl category winners, Alison Muirhead (Dubai) (Under-21s) and Natasha Slater (Furness) (Under-16s) on the trip to America.
Robinson and Slater took advantage of the rules which, for some reason, permit English players to come over the Border and gain places in the SCOTTISH championship.
Wilson had the lowest boys' aggregate of one-under-par 212 with scores of 73, 71 and 68, finished a shot ahead of last year's winner, Andrew Davidson (Charleton) and Marc Watt.
Watt had rounds of 73, 70 and 73 for 216 and birdies at the seventh and ninth helped him to overake group runner-up Darren Howie (Peebles), the PLF Scottish boys champion, who had a quadruple bogey 8 at the second and a double bogey 6 at the fourth in his second-round 76.
The leading age-placings were:
Under-21s - 1 James A Wilson, 2 Andrew Davidson.
Under-18s - 1 Brad Robinson, 2 Lewis Breslin
Under-16s - 1 Marc Watt, 2 Darren Howie.
