Father and son win Milngavie club titles

over 36 holes on same day - is it a record?

FROM JILL FOGGO
Last Sunday, my husband Alan won the Milngave Golf Club men's club championship and our son, 17-year-old Murray, won the club's junior championship. Both were 36-hole finals.
Alan beat Alistair Green by 6 and 5 on the 31st green while Murray beat Calum McColl by one hole after playing the full 36 holes.
This was Alan's fourth final and third title. It was Murray's first and last junior final as he moves up to youth category next year.
We believe a 'father and son' double has never happened at Milngavie Golf Club before. I am unsure if it has ever happened at any other club. It would be interesting to know from any Scottishgolf.com reader if they know of a similar family achievement.
Alan  was round in 68 in the morning against Alistair Green and was four up  at lunch. He then birdied three of the next six holes and closed out the match 6 and 5.
Murray plays off 11 and he was round in 74 in the morning to be two up at lunch. But Calum turned the match round in the afternoon and was one up with nine holes to play.
Murray won the 30th and 32nd before his tee shot at the 34th went out of bounds and the match was all square with two to play. Murray hit the green in two at the 35th and Calum's approach went long. So Murray went one up when Calum failed to get up and down and they both parred the last for Murray to win by one hole.

+If you know of a similar achievement at another golf club, E-mail the information to Colin@scottishgolfview.com
