Nick Robson leads the West of Scotland Seniors Open at Cardross

REPORT BY GORDON THOMSON
Nick Robson (Meldrum House) is the first round leader of West of Scotland Seniors Open at Cardross with a fine score of 69.
Nick made an explosive start to stand five under par after four holes and was slightly disappointed to finish at two under par. He holds a one stroke lead over former Scottish Seniors Champion, Lindsay Blair (Grangemouth ) on 70.
Paul Moultrie (Royal Troon) and Keith Reilly (Silverknowes), who sit first and second respectively in the Order of Merit, are a further stroke back on 71

Bob Stewart (Tulliallan), who is defending the title and won at Downfield last week, is on 72 and will be hoping to mount a charge tomorrow along with John Gullen (Tillicoultry ) and former internationalist, George Crawford (Williamwood) who are on the same mark.

An exciting day’s play is in prospect tomorrow (Friday) at Cardross which is in fine condition and presented an excellent test for the high quality field.

The CSS of the day was 73  for the par 71 course
