Local hero Lewis Bain in last four of Lothians

championship, plays Sean Marc

FROM THE LOTHIANS GOLF ASSOCIATION WEBSITE
Host club hope Lewis Bain eased into the semi-finals of the Lothians Championship at Musselburgh this evening..
Helped by an eagle-3 at the 12th on the Monktonhall course, the 19-year-old beat Newbattle's Stuart Thorburn 4 and 3.
The win set up a semi-final against Sean Marc after the Broomieknowe 25-year-old holed a testing downhill par putt at the last to beat Dunbar's Stephen Simants.
Earlier, West Linton's Stephen Smith had done likewise from much closer to come out on top in a ding-dong battle with Derek Thomson from Glencorse.
Thomson's clubmate, Sean McGarvey, is Smith's last-four opponent after he never looked back after a fast start in beating Richard Moffat (Turnhouse) 3 and 2.
