Chris Kelly wins Deeside pro-am with a 66

Chris Kelly, winner of the Gleneagles Scottish professional championship earlier in the month, consolidated his No 1 position in the Tartan Tour money-winners' table by winning first prize of £980 at the £4,950 VSA Tartan pro-am at Deeside Golf Club today.

Kelly, pictured, an unattached professional, shot a four-under-par 66 to win by one shot from Graham Fox (Clydeway Golf) with Christopher McMaster (Panmure) and Jonathan Lomas (Caprington) joint third on 68.

Late finisher Fox came up just one stroke short of sharing the spoils. He too had an eagle 3 at the sixth as well as birdies at the first, second, 15th and 16th but he also dropped shots at the fourth, eighth and 13th in halves of 34-33.
Christopher Currie (Caldwell), who finished joint fifth on 69 had the best inward half of the day -  four-under-par 30 with birdies at the short 12th, long 13th, short 14th and 178th. He had four bogeys and one birdie in an outward 39.
Graham Fox steered the Jim Walton (Plumbers) trio of amateurs to victory in the team event with a net two-player total of 16-under-par 124. The amateurs were Jim Walton (handicap 11), Gary Leslie (14) and Brian Middleton (8).
