Banchory no match for Newmachar in final 

of Maitland Shield

Newmachar crushed Banchory by 10 holes in a lopsided City of Aberdeen men's double foursomes, sponsored by the Douglas Hotel, for the Maitland Shield at Hazlehead this evening.

Newmachar's first string of Jamie Wilson and Chris Simpson finished three up on Alasdair Ramage and Scott Larkin while the second string of Greg Ingram and Neil Melvin were seven holes up after 18 against Jack Harling and Adam Lindsay.
In the first match Newmachar won the fifth, sixth and seventh to go five up. Banchory rallied with winning birdies at the ninth, 10th and 11th to cut their deficit to two.
Newmachar then won the 12th but Banchory won 13th. Newmachar won 14th to regain a three-hole lead and a birdie 2 at the 16th gave them a four-hole advantage.In a quality match, the 17th was halved in birdies before Newmachar conceded the 18th after trouble in the
In the second strings' match Newmachar took an early grip on proceeding by winning the second, third, fifth and sixth for a four-hole lead.
Nemachar added to their tally by winning four holes in a row from the 11th to go eight up.
Banchory won the 16th and 17th. Newmachar won 18th to finish seven up.
